The Metropolitan Contemporary Glass Group (MCGG) is the oldest continuing studio art glass collectors’ group in the country and from October 11 through 14, 2012 they are visiting glass artist and their studios in New Orleans, Including Mitchell Gaudet’s Studio Inferno, Tulane University’s Glass Program, Brottsworks Studio, Carlos Zervigon’s Studio, Laurel Porcari’s Studio, Rosetree Studios, Sibylle Peretti and Stephen Paul Day’s Studio and Vella Vetro Glass Studio and will join glass artist Eric Hess at his home for a cocktail party to visit with local artists. The group will also visit with YAYA Creative Glass for an demonstration by John Drury and Robbie Miller. Founded in 1983, its more than 200 members come primarily from New York and New Jersey, although there are members from other states and Canada. The main purpose of the group is to share the love of glass with others, to learn as much as possible about glass art and its techniques, and to have a really nice time with some nice people in the process.
